CARE OF YOUR NEW SLATE HOUSE PLAQUE

Thank you for choosing a slate name plaque from G. A. Cannell Memorials. With minimal care you will find that it will last for years.

FIXING

Your slate plaque will have been supplied with screw holes already in place along with brass screws and fixings. When fixing it to the wall take care not to tighten the screws too tightly as this could cause the slate to crack.

AFTERCARE

The slate, when supplied, will have been treated with a small amount of linseed oil across it. This brings out the dark colour of the slate and helps to protect it from the elements. This process should be repeated approximately every 12 – 18 months by putting a tiny amount of linseed oil on a cloth and then rubbing it into and over the slate until all areas are evenly covered.

If you have specifically requested on ordering that you do not wish your slate plaque to be treated in this way, it will be supplied without any treatment to the surface and will thus be a much lighter grey in colour. You may find that over the years the weather may cause the slate to discolour – this is completely natural and replicates what happens to the material in its natural state.

FURTHER ADVICE

If at any time you require further advice or assistance on the care of your name plaque, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time – we would be pleased to help.

I hope that you are happy with your plaque and that it will complement your home for years to come.
